Hi all,

I find a lot of information about all different kinds of permits etc. However, what I can't find any information on is: "what would I need to do to be self employed in Canada ?". Please note this is not a business permit, since I won't be investing money in a company or government project. Instead I will invest some money in my own small business (website development, computer programming, stuff like that).

Is this in any way possible ?

And if I assume that I would get an FSW (let's be optimistic), would it be allowed to be self employed ?

Kind regards,

Unfortunately there's no "self-employed work permit". If you want to work in Canada, you'll need an employer.

If your goal is to work as a self-employed person in Canada, then you should immigrate first (e.g. through FSW or one of the provincial programs). Once you have become a permanent resident, you will be able to work as a self-employed person.
