Hi All.....

I want to sponsor my mother in law for permanent immigration to Canada under new program starting in January 2014.
I have 2 questions.
(1) My income is higher than my wife's income. Should I use my name first as a sponsor? Will it make any difference in decision making by Immigration authorities? Or should I use my wife's name because her mother is being sponsored?
(2) Can I apply online or I have to personally to submit the application with documents? Or can I send someone else to submit all documents with application?

Details concerning that program will be release from CIC in due time. But here's my two cents:
1) Your mother-in-law is your WIFE's mother, she will be the principal sponsor (and you will be co-signer if necessary).
2) I'm not expecting it to simply be an online application (like the Super-visa is). It will be part of the "Family Class", and I expect will be paper just as we have sponsored our spouses.

As mentioned above, your wife is sponsor, and you are co-sponsor. It doesn't make any difference to the application, as long as you can show combined income at the LICO+30% level for your family size, for 2011, 2012 and 2013.

They will be paper applications. You mail them to CIC, not personally hand them in.

Also, mail it on January 1st with next day delivery. Like other immigration streams that have been closed there will no doubt be massive demand for a limited number of visas, 5000.

Good Luck.
