Hello everyone,
Could you please help me with this uncertainty in my head
I have Two passports : British and Bulgarian

11 years ago I applied with Bulgarian passport (in Bucharest , there was no Can embassy in Bulgaria at the time ) to visit my uncle in Canada- Refusal

9 years ago another refusal with Bulgarian passp from London as i moved there

I have been living in Uk for 9 years and am British, having a mortgage with my Fiance
Still have a dream to travel a bit and see Canada.
I lived in USA since 2001-2004 where I did extend my visa twice. Then i overstayed a bit.
How shall I answer this question :
" Have you ever applied for or obtained a visa, an Eta or a permit to visit, live , work in Canada "?
I never obtained Visa, never had eta, never been in Canada.
..and shall I use British passport now or due to the Brexit issues they may refuse again

Others can comment as this is only my personal view but the key wording is have you ever applied and not have you ever received or been approved for a visa. Based on your post you applied and were refused so your answer to the question should really be yes.

Never sure why everybody implies Brexit has anything to do with anything , even less so as far as Canada is concerned. You are a dual citizen and both Bulgarian and UK passports are visa exempt only requiring an ETA , Brexit will not change that ,but ultimately there is only one of you in the world no matter how many citizenships you hold.

If you refer to the ETA application there is a question just before the one above where you need to state any other citizenships/Nationalities so you could put for example your Bulgarian citizenship there and given you are resident in the UK use your UK passport as the primary one in the ETA application.

It always pays to be honest with immigration given as said there is probably only one of you with your name and date of birth so by leaving out the Bulgarian refusal you open yourself up to possible misrepresentation and refusal again.

So , and stress this only my view you have to decide, I would apply with your UK passport, list your Bulgarian nationality and check yes to that refusal. Best case has no effect at all and the ETA is approved or worst case they ask for clarification given the refusal was maybe from a time before Bulgaria became a visa exempt country.

After all an ETA is not a visa it is only authority to board a plane, the actual decision to let you into Canada will still be made or not at the border and at 7 CDN for 5 years is still cheap compared to a US ESTA.

...I cant find Britain or Uk in section : Country/teritory of Employment ...
There is British Virgin Island only.
Why is that?

1. Because Britain and UK aren't countries. You want England, Scotland Wales or Northern Ireland.

And as mentioned in your other thread, the option for 'England' is available for the employment section of the eTA
