how to apply for another 6 more months extension after my work permit expired?

hi i just wanna know how can I apply for another 6 more months without leaving in CAnada? I'm almost done with my 24 months contract..and i already applied for an extension of my stay... but as far as i know application for extension is just good for 3 more months.. so how can i apply for another 6 months...?
