My work permit in Canada expires in a few days and I have applied for a Visitor Record in order to remain in Canada while I wait for an ITA for permanent residence (waiting on a CEC draw.)

I would like to be able to leave Canada and come back, but obviously a Visitor Record does not allow for that. Is there a way for me to apply for a TRV from within Canada in these circumstances? I will NOT have a valid work or study permit. I would like to avoid leaving Canada to apply, as I am not sure I will be able to re-enter Canada if I do.

Is this possible? Would it be possible if I did leave Canada? Would there be any reasonable way of me ensuring my re-entry to Canada if I did leave?

Thank you so much!

EDIT: My apologies - I did not notice that this is a sub-forum of "Moving to Canada from the US". I am NOT moving to Canada from the US, and am NOT a US citizen or resident.

You can apply for the TRV either within or outside of Canada. Note that processing times are generally quite long right now (many months). Process you need to follow is here: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp

There is no way to ensure re-entry into Canada if you leave. That's always at the discretion of the CBSA officer.
