How to activate WP at POE under current border closures

Hello,

My wife was able to reunite with me (I am a work permit holder) back in October. She had a work permit application being processed when she entered in October, and yesterday received an email letting her know that her work permit has been approved.

We are both in Canada, can she cross the border to the US and back to Canada to activate it?

FYI, she entered Canada in October with a written authorization from IRCC to reunite with a family member that is a temporary resident.
