How recent does police certificate need to be?

My wife has police certificates from Australia and Taiwan, she got them both around 2016 while in Canada. She has been living here ever since, and only visited Taiwan once in 2018 for three weeks. Are her police certificates still valid? Does she need to reapply for them closer to the date of application?

Police certificates are only valid for one year you would still need a new police certificate for any country (except canada) that she stayed in for 6 months or more as the certificates are too old to be accepted. She will need new Australia police certificate regardless of how long ago it was.
