The validity of passport does not matter at the time of making EE profile. Only thing matters is that it is currently valid for a few months.
You must renew your passport and make sure that your passport is valid for atleast 1 year at the time of submission of e-APR.
This is all common-sense and does not require a IRCC website link to think and act.
sushsmart15 Thanks for the reply. Mine is expiring by may,2017. Should I just create a ee profile and renew/get passport in few weeks. Dont want to miss the low CRS scores of 447, 441 going now.

Sure, go ahead and create your EE profile. I hope you have your ECA report and IELTS report - this two things are a must to create EE profile.
You can renew your passport soon and then update this information later on even after submission of e-APR.
