How much USD would the border expect for 3 month stay

My mother and I were wondering how much USD we would be expected to have for a 3 month stay, does it matter that we will be with friends? (sister in law is Canadian)
I know that EU expects around 1k min depending on how long you're staying

All depends on the circumstances. Is your mother a US citizen? If so one thousand may be possible but would encourage a few thousand minimum. 3 months is a pretty long stay. Your ties to your country, like job and housing, aren’t very strong if you can leave for 3 months. Your mother can always say that her sister will be supporting her. They may contact her to verify whether that is true. Like I said luck of the draw. She could also walk through without being asked anything.
