Dear all,
I filed my PR application. Jan 14 sent to NS Canada. got a letter to apply in Buffalo in 120 days. Sent all paperwork to buffalo on Feb 14. Now how long will it will take for them to reply .Regards Rahul

no one know but i guess 2 to 3 months. just a guess

I applied at Buffalo in the first week of October 2008 and I got my file number in the last week of February 2009. So it is taking around 5 months to get a reply.

Regards
SPS

your process is different. First they had to wait to get the new rules, thats why your took so long. Once, the new rules were out, you got AOR in 3 months.

Which is weird, because I sent in mine to Buffalo on the Feb 9th and got the AOR dated 12th but arrived last week.

My case:

Application received in buffalo June 1, 2008. AOR received in November 1, 2008 and that’s it... nothing else.

so,

to get AOR it took 6 months
time since application filled - 9 months

As I understand the application is sitting somewhere in the office waiting initial evaluation.

enjoying life in the UK meanwhile

yours is probably gone to sydney for ministerial instruction check. i am guessing.

it is 7 months now since i got AOR though NOC on the list, nothing else after that, not a word from Buffallo. I wonder though when the medical request will be made by CIC!!

guys and gals,

If you applied between Feb 2008 and Nov 2008, you can only count the time from Dec 2008. They wouldn't have started processing your application before that, because they didn't know the rules to process it.

If you applied after Dec 2008, theoretically, they can start processing your application immediately.

rupeshhari,
what did the letter have. does it have a new AOR ( different from one from Sydney,NS). I also received a letter saying not to use online CIC to send documents and informing me of the new AOR # ( same # as from Sydney, NS but with three more characters at the end)

It has a new file number. It is still B and then 9 digits but just different 9digits.

When you say three characters, do you mean [PPS]. Above my name on the address, i have BXXXXXXXXX[PPS] but on the sticker on the top right hand corner, i only have BXXXXXXXXX. The B number is different from that of Sydney.

PPS stands for "point at paper screening stage".

Thanks. On double checking, I see the new file # is different from the file # from Sydney, NS.

Yes and the 3 characters were PPS. it seems you are a few days ahead of me in the line as my letter is dated Feb 2x.

rupeshhari,
what does SW1 mean, is it south west 1 or skilled worker 1 because above my name on the address, of the mail sent to me last month, i have BXXXXXXXXX[SW1].

Thanks

procedure for those who submitted their application in Buffalo in 2008

Guys,
has anyone got an idea of what the procedure is for those who submitted their application in Buffalo between Feb 2008 and Nov 2008?
As far as I understand AOR means almost nothing. Basically it proves that all docs were submitted.
What happens next?
Do they make an official assessment to make sure that applicant is eligible for processing?
Is it done in Buffalo or is it done in NS?
How long does it take to make an assessment after AOR is sent?

assagai,

If it makes you feel better , I have applied on Nov. 5th, 2008, under 0213 NOC list. As of today no AOR.

does it make me feel better?

cajoejoe,
thank you for your support, but, no, it does not make me feel better :)
your processing time looks quite normal to me. Acknowledge letters from buffalo office are sent to the applicant within 30 weeks of receipt of application. This it maximum time of course, hopefully you’ll get your much faster.
If it makes you feel better I submitted my application on 06 Aug 2008 and got AOR dd 16 Jan 2009

It is not that I am getting impatient, but I am trying to make some planning, which at this stage is impossible due to lack of information.
If someone has any information on what happens to applicants like I, kindly please share your experience
