wife and 20 months old daughter are coming from home country after holidays. how much they can bring in cash without declaration ? is it 10,000 each or $20,000 in total?

As you would be traveling as a group of 2, 10,000 in total without declaring.

Thanks for your prompt response. I am confused when i read the instructions on the landing form. As it says EACH

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/e311-eng.pdf

Since you are the adult, you are going to be the person who would be declaring.

On the Yes/No box, it's clearly written: Currency and/or monetary instruments totaling CAN$10,000 or more. If you are carrying CAN$12,000 (including foreign currencies), you must tick "yes".

Even declaring is no big deal. Just complete another form after given instructions from a CBSA officer and you are well to proceed to exit. If you don't want any hassle, why don't you wire the money?

I agree, Not a big deal to declare.

But if you are able to wire money much easier. You can open a bank account in Canada for that purpose before you arrive, and without being in Canada

Did you open a bank account before your arrival in Canada?
