You declare all 400. They then charge you duty on 200. Not a problem.

This guy is just trolling around even after answering his questions. Ignore him!

The answer can be found here.

there are 20 cigg in one pack... if u carry 10 packs that means 200 ciggs.... thats legal n u dont have to declare any thing .... if u carry 2 cartons or 4 u have to declare it .... declaration doesnt mean that you have to write the exact amount ... you just hay to tick YES or NO... dont ever lie on that declaration paper..... at POE just be confident... and if some one asks say u r new ...u didnt know .... and speak truth... i brought 8 cartons with me ... i was lucky and did not got check at airport ... walked all the way out ... just be confident... and if some one checks just say u didnt know.... therz a chance they ll let u go ... atleast it happnd with a frnd of mine who took 7 cartons plus 5 open packs in his pocket... the officer checked and didnt say any thing and let him go

secondly ciggs r really expensive here .... usually 4 cartons are allowed and no one says anything if u are randomly selected for checking...if u bring 8 cartons that means u have spent spent 70$ from home for 8 cartons n if u got checked and they confiscate the remaining 6 cartons that means u ll lose 45$ .... and if u dont get caught or u are not searched by any official that means u have saved almost $800 as 1 carton approx costs 100$ here in canada.... so do the math... i think its worth the risk.... if u wanna play safe bring 4 cartons and 2/3 open packs in ur pockets .... just be confident at airport n u wont be checked thats for sure

1 more piece of advise ....i am sorry to say .... but plz try to stay away from DESI OFFICIALS at airport if u can...

and there is no such thing as u ll get fined ... or they wont let u in canada .... the law says u CAN be fined but that doesnt mean u WOULD BE.... so if u get caught ... just say m n international student.... didnt know... first time outside my country... just as i brought cloths and enough funds with me for my stay in canada ... i brought ciggs as i smoke....

If they decide to confiscate any of them, they will confiscate ALL of them.

More than likely you will be. People who are dumb enough to smuggle cigarettes across border and get caught SHOULD be fined as it is a great way for the country to increase revenue.

By the way - I am a smoker myself.
