Hi!

My boyfriend and i are trying to find the best way to live and work in canada.so if he would aplly under the skilled worker program, how long does he have to work in canada until he can aplly for PR?do i get an open work permit as common law?

is it possible for him as a health and safety inspector with NO experience(just finished university course online,we're both swiss)to aplly as skilled?and if not, which would be the best way.

I'm thinking to do the live-in-caregiver-program, would it be "easier" going that way??

we are already in canada, just to give you guys an idea of our situation.

thank you all for any advise or help!this forum is greeeaat and I'm relieved that i know there are such nice people arround who spend their time and knowledge to help and share with us!!

To apply under Federal Skilled Worker, you or your boy friend need to have at least 1 year of full time experience in the listed 38 categories of jobs, or have a job offer in Canada, or have been studying in Canada for at least 1 year recently. It seems on of the above applies to you.
Just remember if one satisfies one of the above criteria and applies, then if successful in the application, he will receive Permanent Residence normally after 6-12 months. This means he is a PR immediately, and does not have to even work in Canada! It's up to him what to do next in Canada!

thank you mbastudies for your answer, helps a looooot!can I ask you a few other questions?

I came to canada in august and this january I applied to extend my tourist visum for another 6 month. If I would do the live-in-caregiver program I have first to take a 6 month school in edmonton. what if I start school and i can't stay? the problem is, I'm able to start with the school in mai.

could I come back?how long would I have to leave the country?48 hours?and do you think I could even apply to extend for a third time?how are the chances?

I really appreciate your help!!!!
