Just wondering how long it should normally take for an MP to contact you after inquiring about your file. Has anyone who has had to do this waited longer than a week... specifically from the prairie provinces?

go pay them a personal visit...they r your local MP their office should be close by

actually it is less than 10 minutes from me, thank you. I actually phoned Minister Kenney's office and got some really good information. But once again, thank you!

4 years! oh my... Good luck to you!

Your welcome Jamgirl...

RE Dulman: the MP stands for Member of Parliment...when there are delays in your spousal sponsorship, you may contact your local MP (google it based on tour postal code) and ask them to find out what is happening to your file and help in anyway they can to accelerate the process

you should contact your local mp...i would look up their office address and pay them a personal visit instead of email or phone....4 years!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's a long time

I have emailed my MP twice and called twice..no reply what so ever :(

Thanks for the info jamgirl. I was wondering should it be my husband in Canada that should be making the call or I can I call them even if I'm not in Canada. Thanks

Thank you to JamGirl and also to a friend who works for another MP, not the MP for our area. JamGirl shared her experience and I will be following up with Minister Kenney, as well. My friend who works for an MP said that an MP can at the very least check on status of your application, even if it is within normal processing time. She said any MP who says otherwise is not telling the truth! Just wanted to share that, as well. Thanks, again, JamGirl for posting that helpful information!

There is no set time it 'should' take an MP to respond. It depends on the MP. Some are very helpful, others are less so. As well, some MPs may want to help, but are inexperienced and don't always know what to do - especially right after an election, there are lots of new MPs, some of whom are clueless.

Hey no problem guys. Am glad to pass on information to anyone that it will help. I appreciate when the same is done for me. Pay it forward!

Good luck all!

Someone gave me this info. I just want to share it :D

If you need a sample (from my personal experience writing an MP)... you can email them in this format. Be formal in the letter - note these are usually old school career politicians and are always proper in their niceties and protocol.
