do they enter anything into database when one enters Canada from the US during 6 months validity period? I understand that they do not stamp passport again. do they register one's leaving and entering Canada somehow?

When we entered from the US, the CBSA guard just looked at the passports (I don't know what info he checked) and then gave them back to us. No new stamp.

just one more question - if one has a I-94 for US valid at the moment the Canadian 6 months stay expires, will it be possible to enter the US back using that I-94 without problems at the US customs? will they let through?
thank you in advance.

Thanks, job_seeker, so I guess the key is whether or not her passport gets restamped. If it is restamped, and no date is written below the stamp, then she has another six months. Otherwise, she must apply to extend her status by Sept 6th.

Suin, the I94 isn't the critical document. What is your status in the USA? What entry visa, and has your entry visa expired?

She made it! They questioned her VERY deeply at the border, but she was very prepared ( OPT card, letters of employment, letters of recommendation, invitation from her Canadian violin teacher etc. ). So the process begins. Inland application.

They did not restamp her passport. The original 6 month period was kept and she must extend her status by September 6th.
