How long is Police Clearance Certificates valid for?

Hi there

I sent my OUTLAND spousal sponsorship application last week on October 1st 2016

However, the police clearance that I sent was issued 2 years ago.

How long are police clearances valid?

Will my application be rejected?

I am from Iran. But I grew up in UAE.

When I turned 18 years old in the year 2000,
I was still living in UAE.

I left UAE to come to Canada in 2005

I have lived in Canada for the last 11 years
and have not left the country.

The Police Certificate I got from UAE says on
it that its only valid for 2 months.

However, I have not been living in UAE since the certificate
was issued (I have lived in Canada since 2005) which means I
couldn't have been involved in crimes etc.

Should I go by the validity stated on the UAE police which is 2 months?.

Or should I go by the assumption that since I havent gone
back to UAE after the certificate was issued that the CIC
will accept the certificate?

Just in case they ask for a more recent certificate, will it be hard for you to get one?

Some may argue, but I am pretty sure it's 6 months from date of issue.

During the spousal inventory reduction exercise, CIC sent waves and waves of PCC requests in June and in August for inland applicants who's PCC's were 6 months or older.

Thats my biggest concern...that they reject the application

Thats why I want to know...so that if my certificate is invalid then I will send another as soon as possible

They will probably accept it (send you an AOR) and some later date send a PCC request. So you should request a new one ASAP .. that's what I'd do anyway..

I agree. Better do it now before they ask for it anyway. That's what I did with my US PCC. I'm still waiting though.

I spoke to a lawyer and he said to wait because if they do ask for it they would want the most current one

Not sure which direction to go

Will call CIC and see what they suggests, even though the times when I have called them I get different answers there too sometimes

You could wait. But if it takes more than 60 days to acquire, be prepared to show you tried to get it and you're just waiting..

They will accept them late, if you are able to show that you made the effort to get it, and an external party is slowing you down. So just make sure there is some kind of proof that you made the formal request (registered mail/courier, or something of that nature).
