Hi there,

I have an EE profile with 481 points and expect to get an ITA in the near future. I stay in Canada but have to go back to India for a family urgency for a couple of months next week. If I get a bank letter for proof of funds from my Canadian bank right now, and get an EE ITA say 1 month later, will this bank letter be valid or will they require the latest one?

The reason I'm asking is because it will be near impossible to get a bank letter from my bank while in India because the lady almost spent 1/2 an hour yest typing the customized letter with all info for me and she said she wouldn't be able to do it if I wasn't physically present here. Plus they're not going to bother mailing anything more than bank statements if I need the latest ones also.

Any help is appreciated.

There is no clear statement by CIC about how old the bank letter can be.

Therefore, the safest approach is to obtain the bank letter after ITA. I understand that this may be difficult in your case due to your absence from Canada.

One possibility could be to use the existing bank letter, but supplement it with updated bank statements (Post-ITA) and a letter of explanation. That should give them confidence that you are still meeting the minimum fund requirements.

As always, the final decision about this is always with the individual case officer, but that's what I would do in your situation.

That sounds good, thanks.
