I have been wondering how long my husband and I have to return to Canada once his PR has been approved.

I am a Can. citizen living in Germany with my German husband and Can./German son. My husband had his medical exam completed (for PR app.) in February 2008. Due to the length of time with processing in Berlin (we are still waiting for confirmation...it is August 28th) we may not be able to land in Canada before April or May 2009. This would CLEARLY be outside the 12 months "validity" given for the medical exam.

ASSUMING that my husband receives his PR status (this is a NO BRAINER case...he is the only one on the application...he is educated...speaks perfect English...no other obstacles...very simple) some time this year, how long to we have to land in Canada? Do we have to renew the medical exam IF we can not enter before Feb. 2009?

I would greatly appreciate some advice or basic info on this one. Thanks.

1 year from the date of the medical, or the expiry of the passport whichever comes first. If he receives his visa and doesn't land before it expires, then you start all over again.
