So guys i just noticed my wifes PRR backround check went from "not started" to "in progress" yesterday. Does anyone have a idea how long it takes for this step to complete, and to get a DM. Just looking for a estimate of time :) from your experiences.

There is no way to predict, depends on case by case. I have seen on this forums from 1 day to 1.5 years.

Just looking for someone else's thoughts. Do you think if you have had for instance and IEC work permit they would already have some kind of background check on your file and it may therefore be quicker than if you hadn't applied for another permit? Or do they start from scratch regardless?

What if they missed something? They don't do as thorough a check for other visa as they do for PR. THose temporary visas can be immediately revoked. PR is pretty tough to take away..

Of course I understand it is a far more thorough process for PR, just curious if they would use previous applications as a base or not

As I eluded to.. what if there was an error in that base?

I understand your point from your first post. Thanks

Hello olgrime, before the background check changed, what did it say under review of documents? Was it blank?

Thanks!
