Hello!! Me and my family have applied for Canadian citizenship back in 2015 (private sponsor). My mother is Iraqi and my father is Palestinian and we are currently living in Syria, trying to leave. We waited 3 years until around August 2018, we were called for interviews with a Canadian officer and medicial checks. We didnt hear anything else from the embassy ever since we did the interview and the medicial check, neither did we hear anything from the company responsible for our case (IOM). Everytime we check to track our case it would say "in progress" and our sponsor has emailed the embassy multiple times, and only got a response in the lines of "we are currently undergoing a security background check. As of right now, we cannot give you an estimated time. We will contact you when a final decision has been made."
I was just wondering, how long do security checks usually last? It's been around 7 months and we still haven't heard anything from them. And we've been waiting to move to Canada for almost 4 years now. I'd appreciate any help from anybody. Thank you.
