I'll be Landing in Toronto. I was wondering if it's a long process of like countless hours.

Or just a 20 minute process? I am looking so I know how to book my next connecting flight.

Thank you! :)

It's a very short process. 20 minutes is about right.

However how long it actually takes depends on the number of people arriving and the line ups at immigration.

I would leave an absolute minimum of 2 hours between connecting flight.

Alright thank you!

It usually takes about 15 minutes for the airplane to actually stop at the gate...and then the pilot turns off the fasten seat belts sign. At that point, I suspect that you have `officially' landed.

Ohhhhh...you're asking about your PR `landing'. My apologies.

:D :D :D :D

As scylla mentioned, it should be a smooth process.

Congratulations on your PR!

Yes, i've heard stories of people taking around 10 minutes total... and others taking over 3 hours (the landing itself was barely 10 minutes, but spent almost 3 hours waiting in line).

It all depends on if it's a big or small airport, how many other flights arrive at the same time as yours, if there was bad weather causing lots of flights to come in together, how much staff is working at that particular time, etc etc. Too many factors to name, so giving a 2-hour window is usually pretty safe. Better to be early for your next flight than late,

It took my wife 90 minutes to land at Toronto Pearson. 12 minutes for the actual landing (landing + get SIN number + baggage check) and 78 minutes of waiting in line. So if you get there when the airport is not busy, then it could fast.

Oh nice SIN number?

So does this mean I can get my drivers ID converted from Europe and also work within a few weeks time or I need to wait for the PR?

Once you land, you are immediately eligible to get a SIN card and start working. You can get SIN info right at the airport if that service is available, or you could go to the nearest government office to get it. You get the number on the spot, and that's all you need to work.

Driver's license you need to do elsewhere. But at Toronto Pearson terminal 1, there is a SIN counter next to the booths where you do your landing. I'm not sure if it is in terminal 3 however because there was someone who landed in Toronto Pearson terminal 3 and he said there was no place for him to apply for a SIN number.

Congrats on your PR! I just got my one as well. I was wondering if I need to land with my wife, since she is my Sponsor? She is a citizen but we both live out of Canada right now and because the school year ends in June she will go after me, also my three kids are citizens already so I don't have to declare anyone else other than myself.
Thanks

Was your application inland or outland? If outland, then you can land by yourself.

Yes, that was me. I certainly wasn't able to see one and the CBSA officer didn't point me at one.
