I finally got a job offer after sending almost 1000 applications. My employer has sent my name to be added to her current LMO in Alberta. It has been a month and everytime I ask, she says its expected to take another 10 days. Does anyone know just how long it takes to get a name added in Alberta now?

It only take 5 working days to a week for your name to be added to SC.

Thanks very much maplelove. I guess something may not be adding up here.

I am talking about open lmo, which means the employer have pre-approved unnamed LMO from SC, but if your employer has yet to apply for LMO with your name in it it will take 2-3 months.

Thanks again for responding. The employer did have an open LMO which will expire in July. So I really don't understand what the hold up is. My guess is that they want them to search for more locals.

Finally got the confirmation letter on Tuesday. Now work permit application is next.

Hey! I have the same question. How long does it takes for name to be added on unnamed lmo. My employer sent my name on May 10,2013 but i still havent got the confirmation letter yet. I went on the govt website and it says that it generally takes 5 business days for the name to be added but in my case its almost been a month. Im in Alberta. My work permit is expiring on June 26,2013. Im really worried at the moment. Currently im on PGWP. I have 1 more question. After my work permit expires, do i have 90 days for restoration or not? Do i have to apply for restoration of my status? If i apply for my work permit before june 26,2013 do i still have to apply for restoration? Please i would really appreciate if anyone could help me regarding all these issues. Thanks a lot in advance.

My name took approximately 3 weeks to be added. I employer laughed when I told her that I read it only takes 5 days. She said Service Canada never takes 5 days to do anything.

Thanks massy for the info. What about the restoration thing? Do you know anything about that and how long would it take for the processing of the work permit in alberta? You are also from alberta so you would know better. Is your job skilled or semi skilled?

Actually I am not in Alberta.... Still waiting on my work permit. The job is semi-skilled.

You should read up on the PNP in Alberta.
