Hi,

If when we submit the application, my (the PA) passport is expiring in 1.5 years and let's say we get the COPR card after 1 year I will then need to renew the passport in 6 months. Does this affect the duration/expiry date of the PR card? Or the duration of the PR is not related to the expiry date of my passport?

Do I need to transfer the PR card to my new passport?
Is it possible to renew the PR card?

Passport expiry has nothing to do with the PR card duration. PR card will be issued for 5 years.

If you meet the residency obligation, then yes.

I am reading the full guide and it says:

"How long is a permanent resident visa valid?
A permanent resident visa is issued for a period not extending beyond the earliest expiry date of the sponsored person’s (and any family members):
  • medical results
  • passports"
My passport will be valid for 8 years, but I read that the medical results are valid only 1 year. Does it mean that my PR card will be valid only 1 year? Or the information on the full guide is not clear / incorrect?

PR visa is issued to enter the country. PR card is issued after entering the country. They are different things.

You are mixing apples and oranges. The PR visa (landing visa) will be valid for one year after the medical. The PR card will be valid for five years.
