My boyfriend and I started living together in July to work towards a common law visa (he is Canadian). I just had to go home to Sweden and now Im trying to decide when to go back. It hasnt been a week yet.
I have heard that 2 weeks is ok to be apart. Would 3 weeks be ok or is that playing with fire?

Thank you

It's up to the individual visa officer what they accept and don't accept. There's no hard fast rule. I would keep it to two weeks if you can.

Ohh thats worrying. Yeah maybe thats best... thanks!

I would also keep it to 2 weeks and under. You may be able to get away with more, but I wouldn't risk it since it's all at discretion of the visa officer.

You may apply to sponsor a common-law partner, of the opposite sex or the same sex. If so, you have to prove you have been living with your partner for at least 12 consecutive months in a relationship like a marriage.

That means living together for one year without any long periods where you did not see each other. Either partner may have left the home for work or business travel, family obligations, and so on. However, that separation must have been temporary and short.
