I mentioned in my earlier post that I intend to land in Canada this month just for the sake of completing landing record and will be back to UAE within a week time. Hopefully my friend in Canada will receive my PRC in due course and will forward me the same here in UAE.

My plan is to finally move to Canada in July 2011 (i.e. after 10 months of first landing). I heard that one has to re-enter Canada after every 6 months to maintain PR status. If its true then I will have to travel one extra time to Canada in March 2011 .. resulting in additional travel expense.

May I reqeust to seniors to please advice how to avoid the extra landing of March 2011. Please also advise if my conception for 6-month re-entry is correct.

Very best regards.

Whoever told you that mistook US Green Card for Canadian Permanent Resident, for the US it's a 6 month thing. But for Canadian residents they need to be In Canada for 2 years of the past 5.

thanks "maq0r".

It means I can go ahead with my intended plan i.e. first landing in September 2010 and second or final landing in July 2011. Hope other seniors also agree.

Appreciate your inputs please.

Kind regards

Yes.

As long as by 2015 when you have to renew your PRC you can confirm that you've been living in Canada for 2 years out of those 5 then is not an issue.

You can confirm it by yourself if you don't believe me.

Keeping your permanent resident status

Your permanent resident status allows you to live in Canada, but there is also a time limit on how long you can live outside the country. To keep your status as a permanent resident, you must live in Canada for at least two years within a five-year period.

Dear "maq0r",

Many many thanks for providing link to CIC site, that further clarifies the matter and strenghten what you said earlier.

Sorry for being so demanding but hope you understand its a great move in our lives and I wanted to double check everything before proceeding to land. Counting on your kind understanding.

Very best regards.
