My parents' TRVs (visitor visas) are going to expire in June 2023 and I was wondering if I can apply for new TRVs for them now (less than 6 months to the expiry date), or do I have to wait until the current visas expire to be able to apply for new ones? I am also contemplating Supervisa for them, but the benefits are not obvious in our case. Note that they are currently outside Canada.

Many thanks!

You can apply for one now. No matter what they should get travel medical insurance for their trips unless you have 100k+ that you can spend for medical care if they get hurt or injured. Minimal amount of coverage for supervisa is 100k which still isn’t a lot.

Thank you for the response! Yes, that is a good advice and we have always purchased medical insurance for their trips.
