How do they calculate the GPA for someone who did a Bachelor's degree and got a second class upper and wants to apply for a masters program in canada? I am from Kenya, Someone help..
In Kenyatta University (KENYA) there is only a cumulative GPA after graduation, no individual grade points for the course. The grading system is diff.
70- 100 First class
60 - 69 second upper
50 - 59 second lower
40 - 49 pass.
My cumulative GPA was 67. How can I calculate late it?
Hey! Great question, GPA conversions can definitely be tricky when applying internationally.
In Canada, most schools use a 4.0 GPA scale, but they’re familiar with systems like Kenya’s. A Second Class Upper is usually considered equivalent to a GPA between 3.3 and 3.7, depending on your exact marks and the university’s policy.
That said, each school evaluates transcripts slightly differently. You don’t need to convert it perfectly — just provide your actual results, and they’ll do their own assessment.
If you still want to get a better idea of where you stand, you can use by visiting grade calculator to help navigate GPA conversion.
Hope that helps and best of luck with your Canadian application!
