How is payment by credit card possible without pin

Dear Seniors,

I want to pay by HSBC VISA credit card, however in India,when a credit card is used online, apart from the CVV code a pin is also required. However CIC doesnt aks for the security pin.

Please guide, how can they use the card without the pin.

Or should I pay by demand draft (but there is a charge to get the DD made)

Please guide which is a better option.

Because they are not doing the transaction online, they don't need the PIN.

DD is better since if your card is cancelled it will still work. Disadvantages are that you have to get the DD and that you won't know when it is cashed quite so quickly.

DD is safer.....in case of Credit Card also, they will charge u extra thru exchange rate.....so its not free...
