Hi everybody,

Our common-law app arrived at Mississaugua on the 28th Oct 2011, and it has been transfered to our VO on the 10th Jan 2012. The VO has an estimated 8 month frame period to process 80% of the cases.
At the time we submitted the app we tried to gather as much evidence as possible to show that we have stablished a joint household, we tried to buy a business together in Canada back in 2010, which in the end didn't work out but we sent in all the emails and proof of my visit to Canada in order to have a meeting with the owners. We gathered evidence as to how we attend both work and social functions as a couple, we have the rental agreement in both of our names, we have mail addressed to both of us to our home. We have pictures taken with both families and friends, pictures of us travelling all around the world, emails addressed to both of us as a couple, we work together and we have provided evidence of how we have made arrangements to go on holidays together, plane tickets. Our company closed down the base where we were working and we requested a new base only with the condition that we would be placed together, so we moved countries after sending in the application, and we already provided them with our new address and phone numbers. We have letters from family and friends stating we are a couple. We are each others next of kin at work.
We have never however opened a joint bank account as we share the money irrespective of who makes it.
We entered the common law relationship in June 2010.
And now I see myself wondering if we did enough...some days I think it should be a very straight forward application, some other days I find myself worrying about it.
Maybe it is the background checks that are taking some time as I live in a country that is not my own but our jobs also require extensive background checks just like the one CIC is doing, we had to account for all the activities the last 10 years prior to joining the company and establish no criminal activity whatsoever. Does anyone think that could speed the process?
Does anyone share my idea that if they were to refuse us, they would say it early on in the process?

I understand that caution must be exercised for immigration purposes and agree with it but this waiting is very stressful...

Good luck to us all

I don't see any need to worry. I think what you've put together looks solid.
