hopefully someone can give me direction here,,thanx in advance....

Hello and welcome to the forum! :)

Have you been living together for a year? If so, then you're good to apply for Common-law.

First, I would check out CIC website. Which visa office are you applying from? Basically, where are you from? There are specific guides for specific countries. (this option is if you're applying outland).

You should also start gathering documents you will need. Proof of you two living together (both names on a lease, letter from landlord, that kind of thing) and proof you're in a genuine relationship. E-mails, facebook messages, texts, gift receipts, plane itineraries etc.

You should also try to find a DMP (Panel Physician) to do your medical and get quotes. They range in price quite a bit. Here's the link for the DMP's http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medical.aspx (even if you are applying outland, you can still do the medical in Canada). The Medical should be one of the last things you do as it needs to be before 3 months old when you send it in.

You will also need a police clearance check(PCC) from wherever you have lived since you were 18. It depends on where you are applying from as to how to get them.

Keep asking any questions you have! :) I hope I helped a little. I know it's very overwhelming!!

Thanx for the response parker24..its true that the process is very overwhelming..
I still have one more question..my partner did not file his tax for 2 years and i know that option c is one ofvthe requirements.. Is it ok to just present payslips....

Yes you can do that. I would file for this year though, as they may ask for it later and it's best to be prepared :)
