Hello,

I'm a Canadian citizen and am sponsoring my husband to come from Egypt. I was told that my papers were received in May 2015. The application was sent to the Cairo visa office in July and they started processing my husbands papers in August so which date do I start counting from?

Also, the processing time keeps changing, is this normal?

Thank you

CIC state that you combine the processing time for stage 1 (sponsor) and stage 2 (Applicant). You should start from when Cairo received your forms. In your case, currently Cairo's processing time is 17 months (although it is currently closed, see this page[/url). Assuming it opens again soon, you will have your COPR within 1 and a half years from when Cairo received your application. The processing time for offices is generally a lot longer than it actually takes, but be prepared to wait 17 months.

Great Thanks for the response!

This may seem like a silly question but if the Cairo Visa Office is closed, is nobody working there? It's been closed for a while but it says that my husbands papers are in process.

Thanks

Cairo Visa Office is opened now , they just changed their location and the processing time 7 to 9 months from the time of application recv’d until passport request ,,, this is the average for complete applications

The best way to calculate processing time is to look at other people's averages here and on spreadsheets (like in my signature or on your visa office thread). As medopharm says it looks like from when they got your application to PPR is 7-9 months, far less than the CIC online times would indicate.

OH GREAT! Thanks I didn't realize all of that information was there! Thanks so much

Hi!

This is unrelated but I see that a lot of people are talking about the medical exam. My husband already did one and I sent it in with the application and it says that the medical exam has been received. I also heard that they are only valid for one year which means it will expire in November. Is there another one he will need to do before he comes?

Also, can you give me the site for where it says that the processing time is 7-9 months. I can't seem to find the website for the cairo visa office.

Thanks so much!

Hi Sarba
The officer can extend the validity of the medical or can request a new one **** no rule ***
The processing time on the website is 17 months for 80 % of the completed applications BUT, according to the average of the last finished applications, the processing time is 7 to 9 months and sometimes less
I know some friends theirs finished in 3 to 5 months from the time of application rec;vd to Mississauga

Thanks medopharm,

So I guess we can't just do another medical when it expires to be cautious and send it in?

Sorry to be a pain but Im still not seeing 7-9 months anywhere, Where is it exactly?

Also I cant check my status on the cairo visa office website. It says there is no information and I have tried with every single number I have. Does it actually work?

Thanks again
