If anybody knows what are the figures for asylum seekers in Canada from the Romanian side? I mean approval rates, percentages ?!

Approval rate for countries from EU is close to 0%. Try to consider to relocate within Romania first or within EU as such (which is no problem by now).

Now that Romania is part of the EU and the residents have free movement it will be very difficult to claim persecution.

I can't believe that you have 25 EU countries to live in peace and you come to surge they asylum system for a citizen of Syria or Yemen!

Actually it is more than 25 countries where he can move (if he wants to) 27 EU countries + few more from EEA (Like Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Norway).
Of course you need to learn language of the country where you immigrate. However so far I know Romania official language is neither English nor French.

Communism is "unbelievable"..

Communism ended in Romania almost 30 years ago. So unless you are 40+ you cannot really remember what it was.
Just so you know Romania, just like other countries from the former Eastern Block, that are now in EU are decent place to live with lot of opportunities.

If you want to immigrate, please use Express entry or PNP program just like everybody else.

For some of "us" ..u probably know " better"...

Well I know Central and Eastern Europe well.
A friend of mine studies in Romania. He is a bi or a gay. Yes the society is more conservative (same like what it was 30-40 years ago in many other countries), however that is valid for older generation (same like the opinion did not change from one day to another in Canada).
Another friend of mine lived several years in Romania. She had children there, no problem (her husband was working there). She was really ok there.
I do know the region very well, since I am from one of those CE countries.
Do we have lower salaries there? Sure we do, but there are way way many countries that are far worse off.

However as a EU citizens you can work all over Europe, you can travel cheap. You can study for free (that includes Universities). You get your health insurance also very cheap and that one includes things like dentist or optometrist.

If you would like to understand just how good off you are still, you can try to visit some other countries like Yemen, Sudan or even Afghanistan or Pakistan.

Trust me if it was possible, good amount of guys sitting here and trying to get into Canada, would trade your Romanian passport without any second thought.
