Almost every timeline I see shows only a few days (maybe 3 to 9) between medical exam request and exam completed. Are most people booking or taking the exam before receiving the request to take it?

The spousal PR checklist specifically told me to wait until medical was requested to take the exam, so I can't do it in advance. I'd like to be proactive and schedule the exam now, but I have no way to know when they'll ask for it!

Are the panel physicians just incredibly available with next day appointments or something? What has everyone's experience been with scheduling?

It depends on the medical infrastructure of where you live. Where I'm from, getting MRI, CT-Scan or even a major operation within 24 hours (without emergency) isn't an issue. For my own medical request, I called the hospital and went there the same day.
