I am not sure where you are starting from.

First you have to register with MyCIC by creating an account.

Then once you have a MyCIC account and are logged in to that, you can link an existing application (as described in the helpful post above - although it can be very tricky, it took me literally 22 attempts with different combinations of information before I succeeded).

To create a MyCIC account, go here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/e-services/account.asp

- Click on 'Continue to GC Key' button
- Next screen, click on 'Sign Up' button
- Next screen, read Terms and Conditions of use and click on 'I accept' if you are happy
- Then follow the screen sequence to create your own user name, password etc. Once registered, then you can login and try to link an existing application to your my CIC account as described in the earlier post.

Hi there
I tried to link my application but it comes up as no application found under that name.
Who is the principal applicant, is that my husband who is sponsoring me or I the sponsored person? Do I fill in my hubby's info or mine? My next question is; can I link my application if we were assisted by a representative which has submitted our application sometime early in August. According to them around the 8th of the previous month. Thanks for the help in advance.

Principal applicant is you, as you are the main (i.e principal) person applying for permanent residence.

I tried (if my count is correct) some 22 times to link to MyCIC and succeeded on my 23rd attempt! The combination that proved successful for me was the 'Application No and Surname' option. Then I used the principal applicants details (i.e. not mine a sponsor). The 'number' involved I used as '2' (i.e. only me as the sponsor and my wife as principal applicant). I also used the minimum details the system would accept, simply by hitting enter, seeing what missing mandatory fields it highlighted and only completing those.

Good luck!

I'm pretty sure I read in a different thread that it's not possible to link your application if you're using a representative. The representative has a different type of account which they can login to in order to find out the progress of the application.

Found the discussion but I'm not allowed to post a link...
Anyone know how to post a link to another thread?

Otherwise just search "aprp ecas" in family class sponsorship and it's the only thread that pops up.

what is the commonest wAY OFAPPLYING FOR THE CANADIAN PERMANENT RESIDENCE VISA, PLS LET ME KNOW THE MOST SIMPLIFIED FORMAT. ANOTHER THING IS ABOUT THE ONLINE ASSESSMENT PAYMENT.ANY PAYMENT ONLINE THIS DAYS IS ALWAYS VERY SCEPTICAL. I THINK THAT SHOULD BE REMOVED. PROSPECTIVE IMMIGRANT SHOULD JUST BE ACCESSED WITHOUT PAYMENT AND IF THEN FOUND WORTHWHILE OF THE VISA, IT SHOULD BE ADMINISTER THEN PAYMENT CAN THEN BE MADE SUBSEQUENTLY BE 4 TRAVELLING. THANKS ALOT

Correct. You probably read my post on the other thread. :-) My rep even tried to link the account (and some of his other spousal cases) for us via GCKEY to myCIC and couldn't get it to work. Instead he uses a paid representative portal that has a direct line to the CPC. It sounds like even if you can get it to link it just says you have a representative and that they have to be removed before accessing it. Bummer.

It depends on what kind of PR visa. With spousal, I'd say Outland.

You might feel that way about the fees, but there's no way around it. You make payment through a secure CIC website, and then download a PDF receipt you need to print and include in your application packet. We've all done it without any issues.
