My dad and I live in a country that's not our home country. However, my dad has a business back home and willing to hire me as soon as I finish my studies. Could that be strong ties to home country? This is real and what we intend to do, not just a reason for visa. What do you guys think?

may be this idea works!!!
get a offer letter stating the date you will go back to your Home Country
Just a thought. :)

If your dad doesn't live there either, I don't see how this would help. CIC would probably see it for what it is and not consider it.

Do some searches. I have a feeling the job offer from a parent does not have as much weight as an offer from an employer at arms length, I am sorry to say.

Another suggestion, how about if a professor in my country of residence is ready to take me in as a research assistant as soon I complete my masters, would the be strong motive to return?

By chance do you have classes to complete when you get back? You can show your enrollment and proof of payment for the classes.

Well, I'll be working when I return, not take classes. Isn't that the whole point, to return to country of residence with a job waiting for you?

You can include the letter. I think the general thought, however is it's very easy to walk away from a job you never started. I would definitely include it, but I wouldn't expect it to weigh much.

Hmm, ya, I can't definitely count on anything as nothing is certain, that's the problem. But it would make sense as a MSc would be more practical in an academic setting than corporate. Do I make any sense? ::)

Not necessarily. There are plenty of jobs that needs post graduate degrees. I totally get what you're saying though, because my brother works as graduate assistant and co-authors papers with his professor - but you can see I have more knowledge than many people would have about the subject because of my family. When you do your application, you have to think about common knowledge - what a reasonable person would know.

Really, your best bet is to show property, a business, and/or significant investments in your local community. Needs that need your attention and you can't leave indefinitely.

I'll leave my wife and some behind in country of residence, would that be compelling?

As long as you really love your wife!!! ;D :P

I would include that, yes. If you have children, mention that too.

LOL! Would I include copy of their passports, marriage certificate and baby birth certificate only for proof?

Yes, that would work. Children are usually compelling in the eyes of a VO. You might want to include a few pictures that show your bond with the kids - you know, those pictures that your eyes show the love :) Just my opinion!

Seriously?
