Well, if you got to this site and read plenty before you send your application, then you're lucky. :)

I didn't and didnt go to any consultant either, and now I am paying heavy for what I now see was ultimately my own irresponsibility.

Make sure you read alot and very carefully. Personally, I really dont think it could hurt to pay a few hundred extra for a consultant to look over it before you send. There could possibly be some things that you might not read here because you don't feel they are important or may not apply to you but could actually be key to a successful sponsorship.

Actually, absolutely, have a consultant go over it. Just my opinion.
Good luck.

Even though I have filled out most of the Forms and after going thru this forum learned many things, I decided to go with a lawyer just to have peace of mind.

But, I am in a dilemma. I am using a lawyer who says it is ok to fill out only 1 copy of FORM 5476. However, I see in the cic.gc.ca website the Form is mentioned under both Sponsorship Forms and under Immigration Forms.

Now, is he right or we should fill out only 1 Form and I will sign as the Applicant (in the whole application my wife who I am sponsoring is shown as the Applicant naturally) and my wife as the Sponsor?

If we need to fill out 2 form 5476 then how is the signatures be arranged in each Form (i.e. who sign as teh applicant in each of the Form)?

Only 1 copy is needed, and it should be completed by the applicant (your wife, the one being sponsored) because once the file gets to the visa office, it is she who would need to consent to information being released to the representative.

Thanks Charlie.

So, if my wife signs as she is the applicant on one copy of Form 5476 (use of representative), do I still sign on that as the Spouse?

Yes, you can sign the declaration as her spouse.
