I have got overall 6 in ielts exam and in one module i have got 5.5 in writing for other modules i have 6 . I have attempted 3 times but i have got as similar band .so it is not an option for retest due to financial problems . So i decided to apply under non sds category . Applying under non sds category i had doubts about the financial documents and others.
1) can i apply for a visa under non sds with an education loan ?
2) i had no salary certificate for me and my parents , so can i use some else document for showing my funds such as documents of land , vechile which is a truck ?
3)will it help if i pay my first year tuition fee and by a GIC ?
4) i only have 1 year income certificate some thing that could prove for the income for my family , can i use that instead of salary certificate , ITR certificate and such ?
To clarify again i can't take ielts exam once more due to financial problems aswell due to lack of time i am aming to get my admission in centennial collage in a 2 year diploma course in January 2021 and for those who say " if you have enough funds to pay for your first year tuition fee and GIC , then why can't you take a retest in ielts ? " i have clearly mentioned above that i am applying for an education loan for paying those fee also i have mentioned i have took the test 3 times as well as lack of time for me . I have spend 2 year of my life after 12th so this would be my last chance . So please help me my current situation and please guide me if yiu are experienced in this situation . Thank you in advance

Hello, thanks for this question. My friend have somewhat similar problem. If someone could clarify these it could help many imo.

If you can't afford an IELTS retake, then you really do need to consider whether you can afford the expense of living and studying in Canada. You can always apply under non-SDS, but you may be refused. Can you explain why studying in Canada is important to your career development back home?

Paying for your first year and a GIC may help, but be aware of the financial risk you are taking, and the stress it will put on you to succeed, particularly due to your low writing score. You do not want to end up feeling pressured to work as many hours as possible to pay back your loans, and then failing classes because you don't have enough time to study and sleep.

Hello primaprima thanks for the reply. what if that is with the education loan and I don't think they give loans for ielts test. Maybe he have enough land or some property to take loan also it might be with parents not allowing to take retest again. And as for the living expense their is always part time jobs eh?

Loans are risky because you have to pay them back. If someone's parents don't let them take the IELTS then that's their problem. Part-time work in Canada can cover many living expenses if you are very frugal but most students cannot survive solely off 20 hours per week.

Yeah there is risk, but without taking risk nothing will happen. It's always better to do something rather than nothing. But that is just my opinion. do you know any good reference sites or threads with somewhat similar situation mentioned in this thread? or something which provides a detailed explanation on the funds needed and other requirements for non-sds? If so please link 'em that could help my friend and this guy who created this thread also the one who in future go with same situation.

Here are few things which I can suggest.
1. Education Loans are absolutely fine. Most of my friends opted for education loan from banks and received their study permit (For Master's program and they are expensive and everyone takes education loan to pursue them). Education Loans are supposed to be paid after completion of education so it is fine to go ahead with them.
2. If you are borrowing money from someone, then you can get a bank balance letter from the bank as on date and this kind of letter is accepted.
3. If possible, show ITR/Form 16/Payslip or something that proves that there is a steady income of your self or parents
4. Purchase GIC and show it as your living expenses. If your funds are unaccounted, then you can put more than 10k in GIC and cover your entire living expenses.
5. Atleast pay 1 term tution fees in advance.

Basically, if your education Loan and GIC covers the whole program cost then it looks good. Otherwise, you have to find ways to show your funds in a discrete manner.

Simmidas thanks for such a nice reply. Definitely that could help.
