HELPPPPP! Translating and Certifying Docs

Hello, Me again

I have a few documents of my husband that need to be translated and certified. The translation I had done by an English friend here in Italy, now I am confused because I read the guide again...please can someone clarify :-\

1. Photocopies of documents have been made
2. Do I attach the translation to the photocopy?
3. Where does the person who did translation needs to write the affidavit, at the bottom or on the back of the translated version or on the original photocopy?
4. Then we have to go together to have it certified by a judge or notary public, correct?

I just want to make sure i am not making any errors because the timelines are long enough without glitches...Thank You!!!

In my opinion the person who have done the translations need to put his stamp and signiture on the documents, in the bottom or on the back of the copie but also this person has to be legally accreditatei in doing that, if they are official papers.

I did that at my Embassy when I used to live out side of my home country, and passport and birth certificate I have made them legalized in my home country at a public notary, no need to be translated since both of them are trilingual.

As for non official document I have read on this forum once that they could be translated by a friend?!

I am not very sure though..

The easiest thing to do given that there's lots of docs so your friend doesn't need to do this a bunch of times is to
- attach translations to photocopies of the documents (so they know what she is certifying was translated)
- write a cover letter affidavit for all the documents with the blurb on the CIC instructions (and list the documents she is certifying)
- go have the "stack" certified by a judge or notary public with her signature on the cover sheet. Sometimes they will even formally attach all the documents together to make it look very formal with a ribbon and seal but it's not essential.

Otherwise, she'd have to swear for each document and you'll end up paying for many more certifications.
