Hello. I have a question. I'm working in Canada. I am a nanny ( 8 months ), the contract for 3 years. I'm married. my husband in Russia. When I can call the husband? Can he get a guest visa to a meeting with me now? If yes, wich documents I have to give? Thanks.

Hmm, you can call him any time you like. :)

For details on applying for the TRV, check www.cic.gc.ca and the website of the embassy (www.moscow.gc.ca). Best of luck!

Were you married at the time of your work visa application? the situation can be different in this case.

The problem will be that you are a live in Caregiver I assume, so CIC/CHC will question where your spouse will reside.

why didn't you apply for him as accompanying you while making application for care giver? he had all the chances to come and live in Canada with you.

Live-in caregivers have no automatic right to take their spouses with them, same as with other low skill workers. If the husband wants to come visit, he has to qualify for his own TRV. If he wants to come and work, he needs to get his own work permit.

I understand this point, but this could be really hard for your family life now.

There are thousands of LCPs and Nannies in Canada, who have family (spouses and children) residing overseas. They never get to Canada until they are included in the sponsorship of the LCP when s/he applies for PR in Canada.

True. Many live-in caregivers sacrifice their family lifes for 3 years while they work to qualify to apply for PR and later wait for their PR to come through. They are living with another family, taking care of other peoples children while their own children are back in old country with the other parent.

Hi,

You can always call him, of course on your off hours. Get one of those phone cards (pay per minute of use with a land line phone) and ask the permission of your employer to use his/her phone if you do not have a cell phone. He can come for a visit; your problem will be where he'll stay while here for the visit. Hotels are a bit expensive. And also if he could show proof of ties and enough funds that the visa office would grant him the visit visa.
