No Negative impact technically but it may attract interview and then the visa officer might ask you questions about your illegal stay and then it will all depend upon your answers

I am surprised to see rocky's answer. Living in a country without illegaly is a crime itself. How will you get PCC from a country where you lived illegally. Police clearance certificates are required from all the countries where you have lived for more than 6 months continously.

Hey Nat31.

I also lived in the US for four years (out of status). I am now applying for Quebec Skilled Worker and the fact that you stayed in the us illegally does NOT impact your process. However if you read the requirements for QSW on their official website, the minimum of paid or unpaid experience has to be LEGALLY obtained in the country of concern.

So giving the fact that your stay in the us was illegal I dont think you had any chances to work legally hence the fact that the experience from USA wont count. However, if you have at least 6 months of experience in the country where you stayed and worked legally you are eligible to file for QSW. If you have any questions regarding any matter regarding immigrration to Quebec, please contact me, I have followed the info for more than 6 months now so I am familiar with virtually every detail of it. Also, basic French skills are mandatory (theoritically not but practically yes)

Being illegal in US will not affect ones case if one wants to migrate to Canada, not unless if you have a CRIMINAL RECORD.
I am in the same situation, I processed my papers while in US as FSW1 and I am now a permanent resident of Canada, started processing last January 2009, got our visas December 5 2009 and landed in Toronto last March 2, 2010. So I can vouch that if you are illegal in US you can still apply to Canada to become a resident. I dont know how it goes in Quebec, but as long as you meet the minimum requirements you will be fine.

sir,
I have a question. did they interview you? waived your interview? if they did......what did they ask?

thank you. you have given me hope.

my husband was also ilegal in the USA and he was deported. What is going to happen is:

Get FBI report, he will have to take his fingers prints and send to FBI, and a interview at the canadian embassy. They will ask him how he got there and why he stayd the ilegally, but don't worry if he didn't do nothing worng he will be ok.
