Alright guys so I am staying for the next 6 months so that will make it 12 months that I been here. So we finally can apply for the common law relationship. Do I have to apply to extend my stay so I can apply for the common law??

What papers do I need to get to apply for the common law, the sponsorship, and the open work permit all at the same time preferably?

Read the first post here. It will answer the majority of your questions.

So how do you go about the common law thing?? I mean do I have to get married or sign something? Or is it just because I lived here for 12 months and we are common law. Do I need to go to a court???

If you get married, you are no longer common-law.

No need to sign anything or go to court. You just live together for 1 year and have to be able to prove it.

Alright thank you. :D That should go well. I see the form for PR thanks to Scylla. But I also want to sign up for an open work permit at the same time. Where are those forms and how do you send them all together when it is online based??

You can't apply online for PR. You have to mail everything in.

Whether you qualify for a work permit depends on how you apply.

If you apply using the outland process, then you don't qualify for an open work permit.

If you apply using the inland process, then you include an open work permit application with the overall package. Once your application has first stage approval you will be issued the open work permit. First stage approval is currently taking six months (assuming there are no issues with the application).

Yes, if you are a visitor and your visa is expiring, you must apply to extend your stay.

Alright, thanks Leon. Where can I find the open work permit application. The PR one looks really long as it is. But I am gonna have to extend my stay, get approved, and then send all the applicants. How much money will I need to send in with the whole package? Also where do I send the package???

You can find the forms and all the instructions here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

You can use a "change of status" form for the open work permit. You can find it here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp But make sure you write "request open work permit upon first stage approval" on it. Otherwise, they are liable to send it back and tell you that you are not eligible for an open work permit at this time.
