hi newbie here just want to ask the following questions:

1. My aunt told me that she is going to sponsor me to be an immigrant in Canada, does it means that I am going to live with her all the time?? & if so, is she the one who's going to support me financially during my stay?

2. Since it is okay to have a "friend" being sponsored by someone you know at Canada I plan to bring my hubby with me & ask my aunt if she could sponsor him as well so we could settle together (me& my hubby). Is this possible? or there are other programs we should be taking for me and my hubby to go together in Canada??

Thanks and I hope you'll help me clarify these things.

By the way, my aunt is in Burnaby.. She asked me to review the programs but couldn't tell where I fit in. I am a nurse and wanted to get a job there but I'm confused since I am bringing with my hubby. He had also a relative living in Ontario but we wanted to settle in one place so we decided to chose to live with my aunt in burnaby. Could you tell me any other options so we could go together? we are not yet married and I do hope there's still a program that wouldn't hinder our present status. Thanks :)

Hi,

You can learn about immigrating to Canada from here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp (Just follow the links)

You can apply under the FSW category, nurse being one in the list of 38 occupations.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list

For B.C. (your aunt being in Burnaby)

http://www.healthmatchbc.org/hmbc_nurses.asp?pageid=630

Your spouse can come with you and will be given open work permit.

Your aunt can sponsor you under the family stream only if:

relative regardless of age or relationship only if you do not have a living spouse or common-law partner, conjugal partner, a son or daughter, parent, grandparent, sibling, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece who could be sponsored as a member of the family class, and you do not have any relative who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident

Thanks a lot.
Anyway, if me and my hubby applied for a skilled worker do we still need a sponsor?

Nope, no need for sponsors under FSW.

You don't need a sponsor but you points are boosted up if you have an employer and a relative in Canada.
