So I was just double checking our forms before sending them away tomorrow, and I spotted a bit of a problem. I am a Canadian citizen sponsoring my Austrian husband, if that matters at all. We'll probably end up going through the Vienna office.

On our "additional family information" form we have a couple of typos.
My husband has a young half-brother who was born in Mali. We accidentally spelled "mail" on the form :( Also, he has a brother who was born in Vienna and still lives there. We put "Vienna" as his place of birth, but accidentally put "Wien", the german name for Vienna, as his current residence.

Normally I would just fix the mistakes and print another copy off, but this particular page is the one that has my husband's signature on it. My husband and I are currently across the world from each other - it took three weeks for these forms that he signed to arrive at my house, even though he paid for express shipping! I really don't want to have to wait another 3 weeks to receive one piece of paper in the mail when we are ready to send our application now!

So, I'm wondering if I can write the correct spelling on the form in black ink above the typo? Since they are fairly minor (Mail to Mali, for example, and the people in the Vienna office will know that "Wien" means Vienna when they see it).. I don't know, I'm really grasping at straws here. What should I do??

I would not worry about it. Vienna and Wien are alternatives; so I would leave that alone. Dont change the 'mail' but enclose a note explaining that it is a typo and should read Mali.

don't freak out. either attach a note/stickie with the miskates mentioned or just correct the spelling on the form with black ink. CIC isn't going to do a handwriting analysis and it won't be a cause for misrepresentation or cause a rejection of your application.
