Hi Everyone,

I know that there are a lot of posts on applying for CEC from Quebec, but since I couldn't find an answer to my query, I had to post. I recently received my AOR, I am currently working as a Baker in Montreal but I have a Masters degree, so when an interview came through asking for no knowledge of french and just the technical expertise, I got the job as a Software Developer in Montreal. My query is, should I update CIC about my new job or should I just leave it as such, because, if I do update, they might think I have intentions to settle in Quebec, which I do not, I had to stay here since my wife was a student at Montreal and in the meantime had a recent miscarriage, and is undergoing treatment for the same, so we want to move out of Quebec to Toronto, once we have a baby, because, the doctor takes real care of her now.

I don't know what to do. Should I update or should I not update? Seniors please advice.

What is the address on your application? Montreal or outside of Quebec?
You must inform CIC if you moved. You don't have to let them know about a change of job

Either way though, if you applied from Mtl or moved there since applying, you will need to send CIC convincing information to show you are not intending to reside in Quebec. Otherwise your application will be refused.

Proof people have used in the past include: job offer letter, rental agreement to commence residential lease, study acceptance. Personal family ties outside of Quebec May also work.

If the just received aor I'd estimate you'd have about 6 months to address this. Or, once your wife's treatment is finished, you move straight away and of course updated cic of your new address

Since this post was on CEC, then you do not have to update CIC on your new role/job.
What they will look at is your EXPERIENCE (Past Canadian Experience of at least 1 Year of Full Time Work at NOC O, A or B).
