What does "date sent" and "date read " means in an online application?

date sent is usual when you sent the application request.
and read should be the one when your file was opened up for processing.

just a guess though, but that is how it generally is whenever i renew my documents.

It means nothing in my opinion. When you click your message. The date read updates to the time you recently clicked that message
