Hello everyone!

I applied for my PGWP on June 26 2015, but my application hasn't even been opened yet (it's the 9th of November).

Because its way past my processing time, I was able to call CIC and get them to open my application. Apparently, it was submitted for "further revision" on October 7th, which can delay the process of getting my PGWP anywhere between 1 and 4 months.

The problem with that is... my passport expires on February 03 of 2016!!

The delay this revision puts me dangerously close to the expiry date of my passport, which I fear can be used as basis to deny me the PGWP.

What should I do?
Should I renew my passport now?
In case my application gets denied, what can I do next?

IMPORTANT: I'm a dual citizen
, so I have a second passport from the US. I am aware an US citizen can remain in Canada for up to 180 days without a Visa. Can this factor help in my scenario?

I would renew your passport now.

No - the fact you are a US passport holder isn't of any help.

Your PGWP should be issued before your passport expires, but it will only be valid until the expiry date of your passport. You will have to submit a follow up application to extend your PGWP once you have renewed your passport.
