Hi there my husband and i just started our family sponsorship through a lawyer, but honestly he is giving us mixed info...it took us a year to get him his money but paperwork was couriered (hopefully before my oldest turned 19)Feb. 5th, 2017. all that aside. I have 3 kids ..19, .13 yr old and 4 yr old. the 4 yr old is now a dual citizen via paperwork we signed through lawyer.

Here are my questions and concerns...
Does the 4 yr old need an exam? Since she was not included in the immigration due to dual citizenship?
Can I get our medical exams done when I visit my husband in Canada? (this july)
Everywhere it says wait till I get a paper from cic...but lawyer says I can get them done in JUly (see conflicting answer) The problem is i have to plan -ahead. We don't have but a couple thousand in savings...and the exams are cheaper and closer to my husbands house. Here in Nebraska the nearest cic approved exam office is 900 miles away!!!
How long has these new applications expect to take before an exam is needed?

No offense but it sounds like the lawyer is complicating issues, you are American? You don't need a lawyer for a straightforward case.

Your Canadian child does not need an exam.

I assume your other children have different parentage. Did you get your AOR or SA yet?

It's highly unlikely it will take till July before they request the exam. You are supposed to link your account with MyCIC when you get your AOR. Find out about the AOR and get your application number.

tysm...and yes hes kinda doing that..my daughter is mild mh...but he didn't want to go that route but i fear didn't get ap in till after she turnred 19...long story short it just feels like its a mess. But whats done is done. Ty for the info! I will call the lawyer on Monday and ask for app number so i can link them. my other childen have gotten the permission. Well one...He said the 19 yr old didn't need one...which I felt was a huge mistake because if he got the app in on time shed still be a minor. he had her do a fbi report and police report and she signed her application. You know we trust these lawyers to do the correct thing and then ...they dont

Sorry not quite sure what you are saying here. Did IRCC receive the app before she turned 19? They only have to actually receive it before that date, as in, the date the app is delivered to them. It's not the AOR date. I mentioned AOR because you can use that to link your account. You can also check ECAS, or if you already have a client number you can use that as well.

And what do you mean by "the permission"?
