Greetings all,
I'm planning to apply for a MA in Translation Studies at Concordia University (Montreal,QC) at the next Fall term.
Thus, although it's impossible to say since you guys are not the judging committee, do you think I might be accepted with this profile:
I have graduated last year at a Translation Studies course recognized as one of the best in Brazil;
So far, I have a little bit of a translation working experience as freelancer;
My grade point average is 82% (Brazilian score). I've also calculated my GPA on a weird excel calculator sheet I found on Google... I'm not sure if this is right but it told me my GPA was 3.1 or something like that;
I've lived abroad in an english speaking country for 1 year and a half (although I know this does not rule out the presentation of an excellent score on TOEFL, IELTS or similar to the university);
I've received one of the best research scolarships during my undergraduate days, due to a project I co-developed with one of my professors;
I've studied French during the 4 years of my course, and also translated a lot from French-Portuguese and Portuguese-French (One of the main reasons want to do my MA in Translation studies at Concordia);
I applied for a 6 months exchange program in Rome,Italy, when I was in the third-year and I got accepted;
Ok. Considering this, Do you guys think I have a chance to be admitted at Concordia University (Montreal)? Is there anything I can do to improve my chances?
Oh. And also there's the financial question, which is the major problem. I saw that the tuition fees+ living costs are something around 32000 CAD. In case I don't receive a scholarship, you guys think I can cover half of these costs working in Canada?
Thank you so VERY much for your time ...
