Hello
I have been without a status in Montreal since 2008 and i submitted a sponsorship application in 2012 after i got married. I came to Canada with a study permit in 2006 and didnt renew my status when it expired (i know.. not the best move ever).
So.. everything went well with my application and last week I finally received a letter from CIC Montreal saying that they are ready to give me my confirmation of pr, asking me to verify all my information and to notify them if there are any mistakes on their records. They also asked for the receipt of the payment of the landing fee, two pictures and the page checked and signed stating whether the information is accurate or not.
I got really excited and I thought i checked everything right, so I said they got the right information and I sent the signed page with all the documents they asked as specified.
Now... the problem.. I just got an email from cic saying that their records say that my first arrival is different from the date that i had just confirmed for them!!! They asked me whether I had returned to my country before and had come back to Canada much later in 2008 with the intention of staying here permanently!! I panicked and went to check my passport and... there it is... i had confirmed the wrong date for them!!!!!!!
On the verification sheet, they had put same dates for my first entry to Canada as my last entry.. and me, blinded by excitement had told the immigration that it was right information..
I quickly answered the email apologizing for my mistake and i told them that in fact, the dates they asked me to check were wrong and included the stamped pages from my passport. I explained them that i only went back to my country for one month and that I have been in Canada ever since I came back and thanked them for giving me a chance to correct the information.
But now i'm havimg major panic attacks because I'm worried the officer will consider my mistake as a lie and refuse my case..
Please someone! Help!! Do you guys think this will be a major problem for my residency??? :-X
Would there be any way to solve this????
