Help in changing condition to visitor

Hello everyone. I am currently on implied status from an application for extension of work permit but I want to apply for visitor visa so that in case my application gets refused, I don't have to opt for restoration. Form 5257 allows for selection of status as "Other" and asks for another field to be filled for "Other." Or should I just choose "Worker" for this? What should I write if I choose other? Can I write "Implied Status" in the "Other" section and file for a TRV? Thanks.

Assuming your work permit has already expired, you cannot apply for a visitor visa. You'll need to wait for the results of your work permit. If it's refused, you'll then have to apply to restore your status and change your status to visitor.

Okay, so my lawyer clearly does not know what she is talking about. Because I remember last time I had applied for a TRV, its duration was based on the permit I was holding. But she told me to apply for changing conditions to visitor right now during implied status. I wasn't sure if that is possible at all.
